Volunteers Needed

Orchidland Community Association is run by volunteers. As the community grows the existing cadre of willing folks needs your help! Please think about volunteering some of your time to help our neighborhoods improve. Here are some of the places we could really use you.

Board of Directors
There are a number of Director positions open on the Board of Directors. A high level of patience and real sense of dedication is needed as it can be a time consuming and sometimes rather thankless job. There are board meetings once a month, and figure you will be asked to serve on some committee that will also meet once a month. This is an opportunity to really get to know and serve your community.

Neighborhood Watch
Not only do we need someone to head up a Neighborhood Watch group, but also members to patrol, to carry signs on their cars, and follow up on various sorts of incidents.

Abandoned Cars
For some reason people think that Orchidland is a dumping ground for abandon cars. They are really an eyesore and need to be cleaned up. With enough persistence it is possible to get the police to site the offenders for criminal littering and the County to haul them away. What we need is someone to serve as a focal point for this problem. It involves keeping a map of abandoned cars current with the county and serving as liaison with the police.

Planning
A Community Master Plan is in the early stages of writing. This plan will eventually be incorporated into the County's General Plan and will have significant impact on how Orchidland develops as a community. It covers such issues as population increases, where commercial enterprises are located, traffic patterns, park and recreational opportunities, and a host of other issues. Your input and assistance is needed.
